PSAT/NMSQT and Practice SAT- Wednesday, October 16, 2019

On Wednesday, October 16, 2019 all juniors and some sophomores will be practicing for the SAT and PSAT tests that are state mandated in April 2020.  The SAT test for juniors can be used for admissions requirements into colleges.  All juniors will be taking one of two options below:

1.    PSAT/NMSQT- 10th and 11th grade students were given the opportunity to sign up for this test by September 30 (160 students total).  This will be an official score from College Board, but cannot be used for college admissions.  Juniors can qualify for the National Merit program as this is a National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT).  These scores can be connected to Khan Academy for students to prepare for future PSAT/SAT tests.

2.    Practice SAT- all other 11th graders.  All juniors that do not sign up for the test above will be taking a practice SAT test in the gym on the morning of October 16.  This test will be taken with paper and pencil, like the mandated SAT in April 2020.  This helps students with timing of the test and they will get unofficial results meant as a predictor of how they will do on the real test.

Students for both tests should bring two #2 pencils, a photo ID (A-West ID or driver’s license), and a College Board approved calculator.  If your student is in Warren Tech in the mornings and you would like them to take one of the tests, please call and excuse them from Warren Tech for that day.  All sophomores will be taking a Practice PSAT 10 test on October 22 as well.

Please note: The week of October 14 will have an altered schedule to accommodate the tests above.  Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are traditional days (periods 1-7), Thursday will remain an even block day with Connections, and Friday will be an odd block day.
