Future Day- October 22

Our annual Future Day is just around the corner on Tuesday, October 22! On this day, students focus their time on planning for the future, more specifically, life after high school. There will be no classes held this day, but it is mandatory students attend their assigned grade level activity at the designated times. Buses and lunch will run as usual. Please read below for a description of each grade level’s activities.

9th grade-  8:00-11:00am. 9th graders will be working on their Career and Academic plan using Naviance as well as participating in some academic success activities for High School.  Students will be divided up into their Advisement classes for the day.

10th grade- 8:00-11:30am.  All sophomores will be taking a Practice PSAT 10 exam.  The PSAT 10 is a state mandated test that will be taken in April, 2020.  The PSAT tests help students prepare for the SAT test, which is the required test for Juniors and can be used for college admissions.  This test will help students with timing, will be taken with paper and pencil like the official tests, and students will get a score report so they will know how to improve further.  Additionally, SAT scores can be used to meet the new Jeffco graduation competencies for the 2021 graduates and beyond.

11th and 12th grades- 11:15am-2:00pm.  All juniors and seniors will attend 3 breakout sessions and interact with career and college professionals at the Future Fair. There will be representatives from numerous colleges and organizations (check often for updates). Breakout sessions are an opportunity for students to learn more about a topic of interest in regards to career and future planning. The Future Fair is a combination of a career and college fair. It gives students the opportunity to speak one-on-one with representatives from many fields and backgrounds, giving them a contact to continue their exploration.
