ACADEMIC WORLDQUEST - Grades 9-12
Requirements: Interest in global issues.
Purpose: Academic WorldQuest is a fast-paced trivia game in which competing high school teams test their knowledge of world affairs, geography, history, countries, current events, and more. Winning teams are invited to represent their high school, city, and state at the national competition held in Washington, D.C. each April.

ASIAN CLUB
- Grades 9-12
Requirements: Attend half of all meetings held.
Purpose
: To educate on Asian culture, lifestyles, and stereotypes and everybody is welcome
.

BLEACHER NATION
- Grades 9-12
Requirements: SCHOOL SPIRIT
Purpose: We are the SCHOOL SPIRIT club you've been looking for!  Together we promote purple pride by rallying the troops for athletic events, and supporting their fellow peers at other school functions.  Bleacher Nation is committed to supporting the sports programs, developing a bond with alumni, and building community relations.  Bleacher Nation was established as a student-operated club during the Fall of 2014.  The members have done everything from selecting spirit themes for athletic events to supporting the teams during regional and state tournaments.  Each year, we strive to build our Bleacher Nation to support and cheer for our Arvada West Wildcat athletes!

BOOK CLUB

Requirements: None
Purpose: A community of readers that provide an entertaining and safe place to read and talk about books chosen by our student members.   We average 1 book every 4 weeks or so and you are provided a copy of the book we are reading.

CHEERS/POMS
- Grades 9-12
Requirements: Application and selection process.
Fees
: Uniform, competitions and camp.
Purpose
: The primary purpose is to provide spirit and leadership for athletes and various activities at A-West. Our secondary purpose is to compete at the state and national level.

Meetings: Class and scheduled practices throughout the year, games and extra practices for competition.

DECA -
Grades 9-12
Requirements: Enrolled in a Business Class.
Purpose: To improve educational and career opportunities in marketing, management, and entrepreneurship for students.

E-SPORTS

Requirements: None
Purpose: T
o provide an organized high school level e-sports team, in a comfortable environment with healthy competition.  We believe that e-sports should be available to every student as a legitimate varsity level sport in high schools across the nation. We want to connect high school gamers and clubs across Colorado, expanding the world of high school e-sports. We will be competing in the games of League of Legend, Rocket League and Smite.  All gamers are welcome.

FCCLA (Family, Careers, and Community Leaders of America – Consumer /Occupational)
- Grades 9-12
Requirements: There is a $15 fee for state and national dues.
Purpose: FCCLA is a career and technical student organization that helps students become leaders and address important personal, family, work and societal issues. It is the ultimate leadership experience that provides students with the opportunity to be active members in our school and larger community as well as to participate at a district, state and national level through leadership conferences and competitions.

HEALTH OCCUPATIONAL STUDENTS OF AMERICA (HOSA) -
Grades 9-12
Requirements: None
Purpose
: The Health and Medical Club which will eventually be called HOSA (Health Occupational Students of America) is for those students interested in joining the health fields after high school.  Students will learn about the different health fields and understand the need for high quality health care in our society. Students will also recognize the “rapidly changing health care system, and understand the need of dedicated workers who, in addition to their technical skills, are people-oriented and capable of playing a leadership or followership role as a member of a health care team.” (HOSA 2018) This club will also be required for students who are involved with the Anatomy/physiology Capstone Project.

HUMANITARIAN CRISIS ASSOCIATION

Requirements: Somebody that wants to make an impact on our community and globally.

INTERSECTIONAL FEMINIST CLUB

LINK CREW
- Grades 11-12
Requirements: Application process and GPA of 2.5 or better.
Purpose: A freshman transition program.  This club helps build leadership skills as Junior and Senior lead freshmen in activities at freshmen orientation and throughout the semester.  These activities are designed to build leadership skills while helping freshmen feel welcomed to Arvada West High School.

MARCHING BAND/DRUMLINE/COLOR GUARD - Grades 9-12
Requirements: In a music department class or director's permission.
Fees: Activity fee, uniform and instrument fees as needed.
Purpose: An extension of the Instrumental Music department, giving music students the opportunity to learn the activity of marching band. Members will learn music and marching techniques and perform at various events throughout the fall season.

MODEL UNITED NATIONS -
Grades 9-12
Requirements:
Attend weekly meetings to get ready for competition. There are several competitions per year. Each competition is $12.00 per student.
Purpose: To build awareness of the issues that impact world leaders and citizens. To practice solving problems through debate-style interactions while learning about the role and function of the United Nations and international politics.

NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY
- Grades 9-12
Requirements: Membership is based upon art scholarship, service, and character. For induction, students must have completed at least 12 hours of NAHS service, 1 semester of a Fine Arts course & a minimum Art GPA of a “B".
Fees: $15 - goes to NAHS dues & membership. Any further materials (ie. cords upon graduation, etc.) are a separate fee.
Purpose: The NAHS program provides avenues for recognition of the artistic talents and leadership roles for visual art students, while spotlighting the success and community work of Arvada West's art program.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
- Grades 10-12
Requirements: 3.6 cumulative GPA at the end of 1st semester of sophomore year. Selection is based on service, leadership, extracurricular activities and character. Application is online and is available in January.
Purpose: To create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership and to encourage the development of character in students of Arvada West High School.

NEWSPAPER/JOURNALISM
- Grades 9-12
Requirements: Anyone interested in learning the process of putting out news for A-West and the Arvada community on a variety of media platforms. Facets of this include interviewing, writing stories, taking photos, laying out the sheets, and working with various software applications.  Students should have a C or better in a standard English class and be committed to the class for a year.
Purpose: To produce the school news.

Requirements:
Desire to have fun playing a fun recreational activity.
Purpose: Expose teenagers to a fun and fast growing sport that is easy and enjoyable to play.

SOCIEDAD HONORARIA HISPÁNICA
- Grades 10-12
Requirements: Maintain a 3.5 GPA in Spanish classes and 3.0 overall GPA. Continue taking Spanish classes throughout high school through the highest level possible. Selection is also based on character, leadership, seriousness of purpose, cooperation, honesty, service, and commitment to others. Applications are available at the beginning of the fall semester, and the new member induction ceremony is held in the fall.
Fees: Reduced fee of only $5 for the 2020-2021 school year, which covers yearly costs to the AATSP national organization.
Purpose: To recognize students for their outstanding scholarship in the study of the Spanish language and to encourage members to participate in Spanish language literacy, and cultural activities beyond the classroom.

SPARKLES

Purpose
: This program is for teens with special needs in Jeffco Public Schools to lead as a spirit squad at school activities and functions. The Wildcat Sparkles is committed to give teens with special needs a way to be involved in an extracurricular activity while improving social, communication, and physical skills. The program is being conducted at Arvada West High School in Arvada, Colorado.

STEAM CLUB
- Grades 9-12
Requirements: Participation in a minimum of one community service opportunity and $7 charge if you are attending a TSA event.
  The STEAM Club provides opportunity to enhance personal development, leadership, and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM), whereby members apply and integrate these concepts through intracurricular activities, competitions, and related programs. There will be opportunities for school-based competitions monthly and off-site competitions including Colorado Technology Student Association Conference, Front Range Math Competition and NREL Science Bowl.

STUDENT VOICE
- Grades 9-12
Requirements: None
Purpose: To empower Arvada West students from diverse backgrounds to be voices for positive change in our school. It is a forum for students to collaborate with the Superintendent and other school, district and community leaders to create a sustainable movement for social justice in our school through compassionate leadership. Our district-wide SV gatherings take place four times per year at the Ed Center where 5-10 Ambassadors from every Jeffco high school gather to learn and build together.

THEATER/DRAMA

Purpose
